Test Before You Buy
For conditions such as Flat Feet, Plantar Fasciitis, Posterior Tibial Tendonitis, and other Over-pronation related problems, follow the instructions below for selecting a supportive shoe:
- Take the shoe in your hands. Bend the sole of the shoe by pressing the heel and toe of the shoe together. See where the sole of the shoe bends. It should bend near the toe at the ball of the foot. It should not bend in the arch.
Heel Counter Rigidity
- Squeeze the heel counter (part of the shoe that cups your heel) side to side, then back to front. This should resist your attempt to squeeze it. You should not be able to deform it.
- Grab the sole of the shoe by the heel and by the toe. Twist the shoe to see how well it resists twisting. The shoe should not twist easily.
